Free Unclaimed monies

Here is a website for those living in Virgina to check the department of treasury to claim unclaimed property in your name. All you need to do is provide your last name and the first name is optional. If there is monies due back to you it will provide you the details on how to retrieve your fair share.
If you have lived in other states the site MissingMoney.com is a good reference along with unclaimed.org.
manages multiple states databases for unclaimed properties. If you are concerned about privacy, the transactions are processed at the designated state treasury department. I recently found money that I was owned in Texas and submitted the inquiry. I will provide an update when I hear back from TX.
